1. Who we are
Washboo is a product and brand owned and operated by Zazer Ventures LLP, a Limited Liability Partnership incorporated under the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 of India (“Washboo”, “Zazer Ventures LLP”, “we”, “us” or “our”). Washboo is a software platform (POS, operations, booking sites and messaging) for laundry and dry-cleaning businesses, available at washboo.com and its subdomains.
For the purposes of the DPDP Act, we act as a Data Fiduciary in respect of the personal data described in this policy. Our registered address and grievance contact are set out in Sections 15 and 18.
2. Scope & our two roles
Washboo serves two kinds of people, and our role under the DPDP Act differs for each:
- Business users (our customers).Laundry & dry-cleaning owners and their staff who sign up for and operate Washboo. For their data, we are the Data Fiduciary and this policy governs directly.
- End customers of those businesses. When a laundry business uses Washboo to serve its own customers (bookings, WhatsApp updates, billing), that business is the Data Fiduciary and decides why the data is processed; Washboo acts as a Data Processoron the business’s documented instructions. If you are an end customer, please also refer to the privacy notice of the laundry business you are dealing with.
This policy describes our practices for both roles. Where we act only as a Processor, the relevant business remains responsible for obtaining consent and issuing notices to its own customers.
3. Personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identity & contact | Name, mobile number, email, business name, role, login ID. |
| Account & authentication | Login credentials (stored in hashed form), session tokens, OTPs. |
| Order & service data | Pickup/delivery address, garments and services, order status, tags and photos, ratings and complaints. |
| Transaction & billing | Amounts, invoices, payment status and reference IDs. We do notstore full card numbers, CVV or UPI PINs — payments are handled by our payment gateway partners. |
| Communications | WhatsApp/SMS/email notifications you receive, and messages or feedback you send us. |
| Technical & usage | Device type, browser, IP address, app language, approximate location for service delivery, and diagnostic logs. |
| Optional inputs | Voice notes and photos used to draft an order, where you choose to use those intake features. |
We do not seek to collect special-category or sensitive data beyond what is needed for laundry services, and we do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal effects on you.
4. How & why we use your data
Under the DPDP Act we process personal data only for a lawful purpose — either with your consent, or for a legitimate use permitted by the Act (such as a purpose for which you voluntarily provided data, or to comply with law). Our purposes are:
- To create and manage your account and authenticate logins.
- To provide the service — take bookings, run the pickup–wash– deliver workflow, generate bills and receipts, and track orders.
- To send you service communications (order status, OTPs, receipts) over WhatsApp, SMS or email.
- To process payments through our gateway partners and prevent fraud.
- To provide customer support and resolve complaints.
- To maintain security, debug, and improve reliability and performance.
- To meet legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations, and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We will not use your personal data for a new purpose that is incompatible with the above without giving you notice and, where required, obtaining fresh consent.
5. Consent & withdrawal
Where we rely on consent, we ask for it through a clear, affirmative action and keep the request in plain language. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it — email privacy@fohrkast.com or call +91 70222 20007.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing done before withdrawal. If you withdraw consent that is necessary to provide a feature, we may no longer be able to provide that feature.
6. Sharing & sub-processors
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the service, with:
- The laundry business you interact with (for end-customer orders), and its authorised staff.
- Service providers (Data Processors) engaged under contract and on our instructions, such as: cloud hosting and database providers; payment gateways; WhatsApp/SMS/email delivery providers; and error-monitoring and analytics tools.
- Authorities, where disclosure is required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety and security.
- A successor in the event of a merger, acquisition or reorganisation, subject to this policy.
Our processors are bound to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify. A current list of key sub-processors is available on request from privacy@fohrkast.com.
7. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes above, or for as long as required to comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations. When the purpose is served and no legal retention requirement applies, we will erase the personal data or anonymise it. Business users may request export or deletion of their account data as described in Section 10.
8. How we protect data
We implement reasonable security safeguards appropriate to the risk, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), hashed storage of credentials, access controls and role-based permissions, tenant isolation, session security, and activity logging. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your data and to detect and respond to threats.
9. Your rights as a Data Principal
Under the DPDP Act, you (the “Data Principal”) have the right to:
- Access— obtain a summary of the personal data we process about you and the processing activities.
- Correction & completion— have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected, completed or updated.
- Erasure— have your personal data erased where it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected, unless retention is required by law.
- Grievance redressal— a readily available means to raise grievances with us (see Section 15).
- Nomination— nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
- Withdraw consent— at any time, as described in Section 5.
10. How to exercise your rights
To exercise any of the rights above, email privacy@fohrkast.com or call +91 70222 20007 with your request. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within a reasonable period and in accordance with the timelines prescribed under applicable law.
End customers: if your data was collected by a laundry business using Washboo, please also raise access/correction/erasure requests with that business, since it is the Data Fiduciary for those records. We will support the business in honouring your request.
11. Children & guardianship
Washboois intended for use by persons aged 18 and above and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly process the personal data of a child (a person under 18) except through the account of a business user or with verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, as required by the DPDP Act. We do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected a child’s data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Cookies & local storage
We use strictly-necessary cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language and appearance preferences, and operate the app. We do not use advertising cookies. For details, see our Cookie Policy.
13. Cross-border transfers
We primarily process and store data on infrastructure serving India. Some of our processors (for example, cloud, messaging or error-monitoring providers) may process data outside India. Where that happens, we do so in accordance with the DPDP Act and applicable law, and we do not transfer personal data to any country or territory restricted by the Central Government.
14. Data breach
We maintain measures to detect, contain and remediate personal-data breaches. In the event of a breach, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected Data Principals in the manner and within the timelines required under the DPDP Act.

16. Your duties as a Data Principal
The DPDP Act also places duties on you. When dealing with us, you agree to comply with applicable law, not to impersonate another person, not to suppress material information where required for a legal purpose, not to register a false or frivolous grievance or complaint, and to furnish only verifiably authentic information when exercising your right to correction or erasure.
